The computer-animated adventure comedy film Ferdinand was released in the United States in 2017 and was produced by Blue Sky Studios and distributed by 20th Century Fox. Baird, Tim Federle, and Brad Copeland, was largely inspired by Munro Leaf and Robert Lawson's children's book The Story of Ferdinand, which was published in 1936. The story, which was written by Ron Burch, David Kidd, and Don Rhymer, is about a kind and peaceful bull named Ferdinand who refuses to take part in bullfighting but is eventually coerced into entering the arena, where he finds that his beliefs are put to the test when he competes against the greatest bullfighter in the world.
